Dutch syllabus
Beginner (A1) level
You’ll learn Dutch expressions and Dutch language basics related to introducing yourself, getting to know other people, and asking and answering simple questions about where you’re from.
Elementary (A2) level
You’ll progress to more common expressions and questions related to basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography and employment.
Intermediate (B1) level
You’ll become more comfortable speaking about familiar topics in a work, school or public setting. You’ll learn how to deal with common situations that arise when travelling, as well as share your dreams, hopes, ambitions, plans and opinions.
Upper Intermediate (B2) level
You will learn how to discuss and debate concrete, abstract topics and current affairs with native Dutch speakers in a fluent and comfortable manner.
3 things you didn't know about the Dutch language
1. It’s an exclusive club
There are only around 24 million Dutch speakers in the world, compared to 1,132 million English speakers. So by learning Dutch, you’re joining a very exclusive club.
2. Santa Claus was Dutch
Well, not exactly, but the name Santa Claus originated in the Dutch language. So did brandy, cookie, gin, and waffle. Thank you, Dutch!
3. The Dutch language loves consonants
Consonant-heavy Dutch words like dichtstbijzijnde (nearest), slechtstschrijvend (worst writing) and angstschreeuw (cry of fear) can be tricky to pronounce. But not to worry – our Dutch classes will help you tackle tricky words without letting out a angstschreeuw!
